This article outlines how to integrate Make with GW Apps to complete some simple tasks. Once you know how to get Make and GW Apps talking happily, you can then work with thousands of ready-made app integrations, connect to any online app with an API, and even inhouse custom applications.
What is Make?
Make is a web automation platform that makes it easy for non-developers to connect their web services together, saving time and improving productivity. With Make, you can connect your apps in GW Apps to thousands of external platforms, including Google Calendar, Slack, QuickBooks, DropBox, and more.
If you are ready to try and use Make to integrate and extend GW Apps, get started now. For additional help and more specific assistance with Make’s functionality and capabilities, please refer to Make’s help documentation.
We used Make in our example as it allows multi-step automation tasks in it’s free plan, and so can be used by anybody who wants to try this out, without needing to pay. If you already use a different web automation platform, such as Zapier, Tray.io or Microsoft Power Automate, you should be able to build a similar integration using one of them.
How do I get started?
The exercise, detailed in the linked PDF document, shows how to use a webhook from GW Apps and API calls back into GW Apps to update the value of a field on a GW Apps form. This is a very simple example, as we wanted to focus on the process of using GW Apps webhooks and API Calls with Make. Once you have followed these steps, you can expand this base to create much more capable integrations with external systems.
For example, we have a customer who is using Make to create, update and delete Google Calendar meetings automatically from an app in GW Apps where they are planned and approved.
